This downloadable AKAI CD-ROM (available here as an ISO download) is dedicated exclusively to the heavy weight Keyboard Legend, the Mellotron™ - historically the forerunner of all current samplers.
This massive collection of over 800 carefully recorded samples in half tone steps was produced by Klaus Hoffmann-Hook who owns an appropriate collection and has years of experience like no other Mellotron™ fan on the planet. He is well known by respected industry magazines like Keyboards.
Trying to match the 55kg heavy original was an arduous task. The structure of this library was designed according to the "FRAMES". Each frame set contains between 23 and 35 multi samples, which means one sample per loop, to completely avoid unwanted side effects and to secure an absolutely authentic sound.
The focal point is of course the legendary choir (10 variations) and string sounds (7 variations), that have appeared as hits in the charts again and again for the past 30 years. This unique vintage sound collection of 828 samples is then rounded off with additional classics of various flute & brass sound sets.

Due to the way Akai Sample CD-ROMs are formatted they cannot be zipped or compressed. Therefore, unlike our other products, you cannot simply unzip this download then use the samples.
However, the good news is the manufacturer (MasterBits) has provided us with an ISO format file which you can download then use to create an Akai CD-ROM. Simply download this ISO format file then load it into your CD-writing software. You will then be able to burn the content onto a CD so it will be ready for use with your software or hardware sampler.
We realise this situation may not be ideal. However, there is simply no other way to download Akai format Sample CD-ROMs and as one of the world's largest Sample Pack sites, we feel it's important to cater for all producer's requirements.
For PC users we have included ImGBurn, which is a free software application that will allow you to create the Akai CD-ROM. However, this ISO format download can also be used with compatible software on Mac and Linux OS. You must own a CD-writer to use this download.
