Polyester Loops is two CDs of man-made loops and drum kits that contain nothing that could be described as easy on the ear. It is, however, a phenomenal library that will bring organic sounds from the cutting edge of creative digital music to your samples collection. The first CD contains 20 drum kits and loops in both .WAV and REX formats. The drum kits include a wonderfully wide variety of sounds, from clicks and pops to heavily distorted snares and deep resonant kick drums, all of which have been put to great use on the drum loops. As well as drum loops, the MachineWashed Loops folder includes synth loops from producer Jerzy Korzen_s favourite soft-synths, mashed with a collection of heavy-duty effects. The second CD includes more heavily processed drum and synth loops as well as a ReFill, which includes five new Combinator patches designed for getting the most from the REX files included on the two CDs. If you are looking for another library of warm, analogue synth loops and retro cool, this library is probably not going to appeal. But if you are looking to create cutting-edge tracks with only scant acknowledgement of the past, this is the sample library for you. Purist fans of glitch music may disapprove of a sample library that puts these sounds under the control of the producer, preferring the more random approach of the early glitch electronica artists. But with artists such as Kid 606 and Aphex Twin influencing the mainstream through bands such as Radiohead and Muse, it would seem that Loopmasters has jumped on the burgeoning glitch-sound bandwagon at exactly the right time. A wild ride on the dirtier, edgier side of electronic music. Polyester Loops is the sound of computers pushed to the extreme.

Two Cds of over 2,000 downright bizarre synthetic drum loops, 1,700 Wav files, 500 Rex samples, alongside 20 NNXT/Halion/Kontakt/EXS24 velocity layered drum kit patches.
Any Good? Considering the price, there's an extremely generous amount of material spread over the 2 Discs, with the highlight being plenty of glitchy beats that'll go down a treat with fans of the Warped roster. Elsewhere there are some fantastic rythmic and melodic loops that provide plenty of starting points or sparking off creative ideas.
Verdict: A tidy little all-rounder for glitch loving, ambient beatsmiths.

Heavily slanted toward break/house/lounge titles, Polyester Loops takes a favorable foray into the world of glitches, pops, stutters and all manner of synthetic mayhem. Poland's Jerzy Korzen has produced an inspiring collection of more than 2,000 samples across two data CDs for Mac and PC that capture the essence of manmade chemical beats and synthetic musical fabric. The project contains two large folders of drum and music loops named Machinewashed and Handwashed--though stylistically indifferent--and provides 20 quirky drum kits as thread to weave them together.
Drum and percussion loops range from 70 to 180 bpm in Acidized WAV and REX2 formats. Highly inventive and often in complex signatures and break patterns, they don't fit simple genres or description, lest to say that they are labor intensive-sounding edits with an eclectic chillout vibe in the low tempos and an avant trip-hop/drum 'n' bass-like vibe in the higher tempos. The music loops aren't so much traditional melodic phrases as they are evocative subterranean bass wobbles and vocal formant grooves; distorted piano and melded, ethnic, plucked-string instrument experimentations; synthy sequences and chaotic filtered burbles; scratched circuit noises and cuts; and otherwise deliciously distorted, squashed and effected electro-acoustic loops. The drum kits come in NNXT, HALion, Kontakt and EXS24 formats, each typically containing 40 to 80 samples. As a whole, this abstract collection is brilliant stuff for any post-modern hip-hop, techno, intelligent/industrial dance music or film score.
Polyester Loops could also easily fit into the fold of pop to give a plain track an unidentifiable splash of depth.
