Dirty South is a genre of Hip Hop that popped up in the Southern states of the USA, especially in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, and Miami in the late 1990s. It was a reaction to the 1980s Hip Hop culture of New York City and the Los Angeles area and can be considered a third major American Hip Hop genre, after East Coast and West Coast Hip Hop.

It can be summed up as Hip Hop from these Southern states and used to describe the music of the artists from there. In addition, many younger non-Southern artists such as ASAP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert have established themselves within the Hip Hop scene through southern flavored beats and have acknowledged being heavily influenced by Southern styles of Hip Hop.
