Trip Hop

Originating in Bristol, UK in the 1990s, Trip Hop is characterised by its experimentation, its use of sound samples, influences of Jazz and Soul, and its Electronic sound - a fusion of Hip Hop and Electronica until neither genre is recognisable.

Trip Hop is a more experimental form of Breakbeat. It features a bass-heavy drumbeat, melancholic sound (possibly due to Post Punk influence), and typically female vocals but not always. In addition, typical Trip Hop instruments include saxophone, flute, vintage electric pianos, and trumpets, used to create a mellow tone.
