Each of the four volumes in the Old School Flavours collection offers varying drum performances in song form produced with a retro feel for that authentic sound. On each volume, each of 9 vintage kits plays 5 authentic song patterns.

Each song performance is divided into 3 x 4 bars of groove, comprising of a main groove (chorus), a simpler version (verse), and an intro or breakdown, with each section ending with its own fill. These grooves are accurate in both playing style and the sound of the kits.

"Houseparty, being the fourth and last collection in the brilliant Old School Flavours series, follows a similar format to its compadres. The loops are arranged into nine flavours: Phatjam Groove; Disco Vinyl Groove; Weekender Grooves; Studio 54 Grooves; Philly Disco Grooves; Hustle Grooves: Boogie Grooves; Saturday Night Grooves and Jazz Funk Licks (only joking - it's Grooves again). Each set contains various related grooves at different tempos. Each individual one of these (and its variants) has its own track, making for easy searching and sampling. The emphasis is very much on 'real' drums with little in the way of synth drums. The recording quality of Houseparty is beyond reproach, as is the quality of the playing. Because the grooves are all mid-tempo (from 106 to 128bpm) they are also very flexible. With a bit of judicious timestretching and pitchshifting, House Party's loops could be slotted into most styles of dance. "
