Ever since their conception in August 2007, Alonso Sound has grown to become one of the most popular resources for music production tools – and their popularity only continues to grow with each new product they release. Through hard work and determination, sound designers Adam Alonso and Slavik Bortko have established an empire with a sphere of influence so vast that practically every electronic dance music producer knows their work by one common name: Alonso Sound.

Their most recent product is Slavik Bortko’s “Rising Star Soundset”, a bank of synthesizer presets designed for LennarDigital’s popular plugin Sylenth1. Bortko, who has spent the last few months working on this project, has prepared 320 presets for music producers to use and abuse as they wish. The bank consists of nearly everything a music producer would need to produce a bangin’ track: 1 arp, 98 basses, 22 keys and organs, 100 leads, 24 pads, 48 plucks, and 28 sound effects. The library is equally as impressive as it is large—and, perhaps more importantly—it provides users with a variety of sounds that can be utilized for nearly any style of dance music production. Unlike many other soundbanks currently on the market, “Rising Star Soundset” doesn’t exclusively target any one particular style of electronic dance music. Instead, it offers a little bit of everything: dirty electro basses, soaring trance leads, groovy house keys, percussive progressive plucks, and so, so much more.

As expansive as the library is, don’t expect to hear much repetition as you browse through the presets. They immediately stand out for their uniqueness and character, with each ensuing preset greatly differing from the one that preceded it. There’s tons of gems to be found throughout this soundbank (especially the sound effects!) so users shouldn’t have a problem finding something they like and integrating it into their own projects, or tweaking it to their own liking. As one would come to expect, some of the more “alluring” content can be found in the ‘bass’ and ‘leads’ portion of the library, where an arsenal of explosive-sounding presets await. But perhaps the most intriguing content lies within the ‘plucks’, ‘keys’, and ‘pads’ section(s), where you’ll find an abundance of unique presets with a characteristic sound seldom heard in other soundbanks.

However, it isn’t until you start tweaking the presets and making sounds of your own that the magic truly begins. That’s when you realize how sensational this product really is.

Alonso Sound’s “Rising Star Soundset” is a brilliant soundbank full of immense detail and diversity. It’s ideal for any degree of music producer—whether novice or advanced—and should prove to be useful for producing any style of dance music.
