Object Obscura: Organic Rhythms

'Object Obscura: Organic Rhythms' was influenced by finding useful rhythms in the mundane - sampling everything in the studio, office, and home, then processing and warping the sounds with filters, distortion, and pitch shifters, chopping them up, dropping them into a sampler, and creating percussion loops. Staplers, coffee mugs, buttons, switches, kitchen appliances, squeaky chairs, toys, cables, desks, food, water, creaky floorboards, keyboards, office stationery, game controllers, vases, glasses, tools, and clothes are just a few of the items sampled. To complement the percussion, guitars, bass, kalimbas, flutes, and a glockenspiel were given the same dirty processing and resequenced to create glitchy and percussive melodic loops.
